Almost all casting takes place at Coalbrookdale,
the Shropshire cradle of the Industrial Revolution, where, in 1709, Abraham Darby
first melted iron using coke. The latest Aga is made in exactly the same way;
by pouring molten iron into a mould to create cast iron. It is cast iron that
possesses the unique heat retention properties that are an intrinsic part of
the way an Aga cooks. Today, however, every new Aga is both 70 percent made from
recycled materials and 70 percent future recyclable.

Webley is probably the oldest name in the British
gun industry – able to trace its origins back to 1790 when William Davis started
making bullet moulds in his factory in Birmingham, England. Over the years the
company gained a worldwide reputation for high quality guns of all types. As
far back as 1911 the company had patented an air pistol and in 1924 launched
the Mark I air pistol. Many other models have followed over the years but all
have had Webley’s core values of high quality, high performance and value for
money at their heart.
John Rogers Memorial Shoot 2008
This day was a great success and friends, family and shooters came
from far and wide to take part, there were thirty winners of sponsored spot prizes
on all four layouts that were in use plus a grand prize draw and the chance to
win two hundred and fifty cartridges from the bulls eye competition on the dart
board.
The pool shot was busy all day and there were five finalists who
went into the shoot off for the fifty pound high gun prize, this was won by England
international Bob Taylor, after putting in another ten straight.
Overall winner and recipient of the John Rogers memorial trophy
was Colin Heathcote another England international who shot superbly all day,
it was an emotional moment when Colin stepped up to receive his award from Shirley
and Geoff Rogers (John's parents) and Colin said that he was so very proud
to be the first person to win the award.
Joint second place went to John Stafford ( Eng Int ) and Mike Weaver
who were only a point behind Colin, third place went to Jack Rowley ( Eng Int
) who also won the junior class.
The veteran class was won by Shropshire shooter Gerald Jones
, Elaine and Ken Martin won the husband and wife class plus Elaine won the ladies,
and to cap it all off Geoff and Andrew Rogers ( father & nephew of John ) won
the grandparent and child class, now that was an emotional moment to say the
least, I think that we all had a lump in our throats there.
We utilised the day as our annual fund raising day as well as to
remember John, who was a great supporter of the Shropshire Clay Pigeon Shooting
Association and we were able to not only put some money into our own bank account,
but we also made two donations to two charities that John gave support to.
All in all everyone had a fabulous days sport on a super ground
in the company of like minded people. Arthur Williams, the proprietor of the
ground, offered us the use of it next year and we accepted. A date has not been
sorted out as of yet but I will enlighten you when we have one, perhaps you may
look favourably on us again as far as sponsorship is concerned.
Can I take this opportunity to thank yourself for the support that
you gave to us, it was and is very much appreciated.
Many thanks, Graham Evans, Chairman, SCPSA.
